Here’s your chance to win the name you’ve always wanted—the New Name Auction is here!

The event features two phases: Season 1 - New Name Auction Official Bidding and Season 2 - Character Name Buying/Selling.

Don’t miss out the New Name’s Auction and change to a cool and unique name for your character!


CAUTIONARY NOTES UPON STARTING

Notes on Trading
  • MapleStory retains ownership of the character name, and the rights to use the name are transferred to the buyer upon completion of the trade.
  • Character names that violate the Name Policy are subject to Admin judgement, and purchasing and using them may result incur penalties based on the Operation Policy.
  • You can only have 1 listing for sale at a time.
  • You can have up to 10 character name trades going on at a time.
  • When you register to sell a name, the registration deposit and a renaming free will be deducted, and the character will immediately take on a new name.
  • The registration deposit will be refunded if the sale is successful, but not if the sale is unsuccessful.
  • The remaining fee cannot be returned regardless of the success of the sale.
  • If the sale is successful, you will receive the sale proceeds minus the sale fee.
  • If the sale is unsuccessful, you can get your character's name back.

    Notes on Names
  • If a name you list for sale is found to be in violation of the Name Policy, the trade may be canceled by the Admin.
  • Names that violate the Name Policy can be restricted from use and forcibly changed.
  • Name change fees and bid deposits used to trade names that violate the Name Policy are non-refundable.
  • Accounts that trade names in violation of the Name Policy will be restricted from future New Name Auctions.

    Notes on Claiming (Changing) Names
  • You cannot change to a name that already exists.
  • You cannot change to a name that contains certain restricted words.
  • Changing a character's name will not change the name on previously crafted items.
  • NPCs registered as statues cannot be renamed.


    CAUTIONARY NOTES WHEN BIDDING

    Trade-Related Cautionary Notes
  • Ownership of character names belongs to MapleStory, and upon successful trade, naming rights are transferred to the buyer.
  • Character names that violate the Name Policy are subject to Admin judgement. Purchasing and using such names may incur penalties based on the Operation Policy.
  • Cancellation due to a change of mind after bidding is not possible. You can rebid at a higher price before the auction ends.
  • A maximum of 4 character name transactions can be conducted simultaneously. This includes both sales and bids, with a limit of 5, including unreceived transactions from sales, bids, and completed deals.
  • Bid deposits and name change fees are deducted in advance when placing a bid, and both are refunded in case of failure.
  • Upon winning, the character name is immediately changed and the previous character name is deleted. Once the character name change is completed, it cannot be reversed.

    Name-Related Cautionary Notes
  • If the bid name is found violate naming policies, the trade may be forcibly canceled.
  • Names violating naming policies may be restricted from use and forcibly changed.
  • Name change fees and bid deposits used in transactions involving names violating policies are non-refundable.
  • Accounts involved in trading names that violate policies may face restrictions on future New Name Auction usage.

    Cautionary Notes for Name Reception (Change) after Winning
  • After receiving the character name, the character cannot change names for one week.
  • The name displayed on items crafted prior to a character name change will not be altered.
  • The names of NPCs registered in the beauty salon will not be changed.

    Cautionary Notes for Name Reception
  • After receiving the character name, the character cannot change name through NPC Mister New Name for one week.
  • The name displayed on items crafted prior to a character name change will not be altered.
  • The names of NPCs registered in the beauty salon will not be changed.
  • Regardless of the timing of the character name change, you can receive character names won through a successful bid or return character names you did not win.




    Season 1 - New Name Auction Official Bidding

    18th December 2024, (after v238 Patch) ~ 7th January 2025, 2359hrs

    Available to Level 10+, Zero character who has completed Chapter 2 for Story Quest.

  • Selected names will be available for purchase using Maple Points.
  • Starting bid for each Name is 1,000 Maple Points.
  • Everyday at 10:00a.m, new names will be available for bidding.
  • Each Name will be in the Auction for 48 hours for bidding starting from the initial time it is added to the Auction.
  • There is a maximum of 10 Trade slots per MapleID.
  • The Filter Function above can be used to search for more specific name details such as Words Only or Numbers only as well as the length and price of the Name.
  • The auction of a Name ends 2 minutes before the designated auction end time, and the highest bid price at the end wins the character Name.
  • The New Name Auction is available on a per Maple ID basis.
  • List of available names can be found HERE.

    How to bid
    1. Click on 'New Name Auction Season 1' from the event list or NPC Mister New Name located in main cities, then click the [JOIN] button to enter the New Name Auction.
    2. Search for the desired character name in the search bar on the top left, or find the 'CHARACTER NAME FOR SALE' you like in the search tab.

    3. Write down your desired bid and bid
      ↪The first bid(1,000 Maple Points) is unaffected by the Minimum Bid Increment and will be available from 1,000 Maple points. Subsequent bids will be affected by the Minimum Bid Increment.
      ↪When bidding, the bid deposit and name change fee are deducted. If the bid is unuccessful, they are returned.
      ↪Cancellation is not possible after bidding.
    4. You can check the names currently being bid on by pressing the [ON SALE] button in the 'MY TRADE' tab.

    5. In the 'BID INFORMATION' tab, if the amount you have bid is the highest for that Name, it will be displayed as the WINNING BID. If someone else has bid a higher amount for a character name that has not yet finished its sales period, the 'RE-BID' and 'RETURN BID AMOUNT' buttons will be activated.
      ↪When re-bidding, the original bid amount will not be returned, but only the added amount is deducted from your Maple Point balance.

    6. If you win a bid, you can receive the name won in the 'TRANSACTION COMPLETED' button under 'MY TRADE' tab. If you receive the name, the name of the currently logged-in character will be changed immediately and the existing character name will be deleted.
      ↪After receiving the character name, the character cannot change their character name through NPC Mister New Name for a week.
      ↪After receiving the character name, you can change it to another name that you have won. However, as the previous name cannot be restored once the change is complete, please check the character that will use the name you have won is correct before receiving the name.
      ↪The name displayed on items previously created by the character whose name you want to change cannot be changed.
      ↪NPCs registered as statues cannot have their name changed.

    Season 2 - Character Name Buying/Selling

    Buying/Selling Period: 8th January 2025, 1000hrs ~ 4th February 2025, 2359hrs

    Registration Buying/Selling Period: 8th January 2025, 1000hrs ~ 31st January 2025, 2359hrs

    Available to Level 10+, Zero character who has completed Chapter 2 for Story Quest.

  • Login to a character to sell the Character Name.
  • A new Name is required to replace the current Name for selling.
  • Each Name will be in the Auction for bidding starting from the time it is added to the Auction.
  • There is a maximum of 10 Trade Slots per MapleID.
  • The Filter Function above can be used to search for more specific name details such as Words Only or Numbers only as well as the length and price of the Name.
  • The auction of a Name ends 2 minutes before the designated auction end time, and the highest bid price at the end wins the character Name.
  • The New Name Auction is available on a per Maple ID basis.
  • The names and prices of the finished auctions will be changed to 11:59p.m. PM on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 and can be received through the NPC Mister New Name in the village after the event ends.
  • Make sure to use the correct character to receive the auction name.

    How to SELL Names
    1. Click on 'New Name Auction Season 2' from the NPC Mister New Name located in main cities or the event list, then click the [JOIN] button to enter the New Name Auction.
    2. Go to the 'MY TRADE' tab and click the [SELL NAME] button.
      ↪Character names that have started selling cannot be cancelled or changed midway.
    3. Enter your desired bid, select a registration time, and enter a new character name to start selling.
      ↪The minimum bid starts at 50,000 Maple Points, and the registration deposit Name Change Fee of 18,000 Maple Points is deducted at the time of registration.

    4. You can check the character names you are selling by clicking the [ON SALE] button in the 'MY TRADE' tab.

    5. When the character name sale is over, you can check the results by clicking the [TRANSACTION COMPLETED] button in the 'MY TRADE' tab. If the registered character name was not sold, you can re-register the sale by paying an additional registration deposit or receive a return of the name.
      ↪The name change fee is non-refundable regardless of the success of the sale.
      ↪The registration deposit is refundable if the sale is successful, but not if the sale fails.
    6. You can receive the sales proceeds for the winning character name by clicking the [RECEIVE FUNDS] button in the 'TRANSACTION COMPLETED' tab.
      ↪A 30% sales commission is deducted at the time of payment receipt.

    How to BUY Names
    1. Click on 'New Name Auction' from the event list or NPC Mister New Name located in main cities, then press the [JOIN] button to enter the New Name Auction.
    Search for the desired character name in the search bar on the upper left, or find the 'CHARACTER NAME FOR SALE' you like in the search tab.
    2. Write the desired bid price and bid.
      ↪The bid price must be higher than the minimum bid unit.
      ↪For the very first bid(50,000 Maple Points) is unaffected by the Minimum Bid Increment and will be available from 50,000 Maple points. Subsequent bids will be affected by the Minimum Bid Increment.
      ↪Bidders must increase their bid by at least the Minimum Bid Increment to bid.
      ↪There will be Cautionary Notes to read when bidding.

      ↪On a successful bid, bid deposit and name change fee will be deducted first. On a failed bid, everything will be refunded.
      ↪Bids cannot be cancelled.
